The Clinical Features of Acute Renal Failure accompanying Rhabdomyolysis

Abstract
|
|
|
We analyzed 23 acute renal failure patients with rhabdomyolysis and follwing results were obtained.
1) Rhabdomyolysis was 6.5% cause of acute renal failure in internal medicine of Seoul National Univerity Hospital and carbon monoxide poisoning and snake bite were main etiology of rhabdomyolysis.
2) Serum creatine phosphkinase, orthotoluidine test of urine, "mTc-MDP bone scan were useful diagnostic method.
3) There were initial hemoconcentration and leukocytosis. Blood chemisty showed severe hyperkalemia, hyperphosphatemia, hyperuricemia and hypocalcemia during clinical course.
4) There were 16 oliguric acute renal failure and 7 non-oliguric acute renal failrue. Duration of olguric phase was 11.8¡¾4.2 days and average six times of hemodialysis was required in oliguric renal failure and mortality was 13%.
